This song discusses how we as individuals choose to react and frame a situation or another's intentions from a fear-based mentality, typically a result of trauma and an attempt to protect oneself from repeated past pain, instead of reacting and framing from a perspective of trust, respect, and love. Our unhealed pain convinces us that we are right to keep walls up, to only let our lovers in just a little, only to find ourselves confused and upset when our lovers pull away or our relationships fizzle out, become complicated, or die. When we choose fear, we block love, and thus bring those demons to the playground of that relationship, in which they run rampant, causing chaos, attacking, defining, and hurting what we were once so proud to build and start. When we choose love, we not only let someone in who may deserve to be, having earned that trust, we also showcase a love for ourselves, that we can "allow" love to exist in our lives, to receive it, to offer it, to build upon and nurture it. When we acknowledge our deep need for love and don't fight or deny it, we begin an evolution of self that awakens us spiritually, emotionally, psychologically, and physically to all the healing wonders of such a powerful force.
